We are so excited to welcome a new artist to The Venue Patio! Joanna Sterling is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Southeast Michigan, known for her emotionally rich folk music and chamber-style arrangements. A lifelong musician and self-taught composer, Joanna began writing songs as a child and has since evolved from performing in cafés and camps to leading her former band, Joanna & the Jaywalkers, and now performing under her solo name. As a proud trans woman, Joanna blends personal storytelling with influences ranging from Joni Mitchell to Fiona Apple, creating a sound both timeless and deeply individual. She is passionate about visibility, authenticity, and joy—offering a rare voice in the folk world that celebrates queer identity and human resilience. Joanna currently performs solo, as a duo with cellist Anthony Marchese, and with her full ensemble, and is at work on her next studio album.
